PMS Tea, A Real Life-Saver For Us At Our House
PMS...it's a rough time for everyone involved. It doesn't have to be though, check out the tea recipe below for more info.
As always this article does not replace medical advice nor is it intended to treat or cure any condition. Before starting or stopping any supplements or medications you should speak to your healthcare provider. Do not drink this tea if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
What you'll need to make this PMS tea:
- An airtight container (mason jars work great for this)
- 6 bags of raspberry zinger tea
- 2 bags of ginger tea
- 6 bags of chamomile vanilla tea
- 6 bags of peppermint tea
- 2 tablespoons of red clover
- 4 teaspoons of old-fashioned oats
- Teacup or mug
- Tea diffuser of 1 cup coffee maker
- Honey or sweetener of your choice
- Teaspoon
How to make the PMS tea:
- Place all of the tea bag contents into a mason jar or other airtight container. I open each bag with scissors and dump it in the jar. Toss the bags, you won't be needing them after they are emptied into the jar.
- Shake the jar gently to mix it up so that you'll get an even brew each time.
- Store your container out of light for up to one year (it never lasts that long at our house as I drink it every month for a week)
- When you are ready to make your tea grab a tea diffuser or the loose grounds cup to your one cup coffee maker and put 2-3 teaspoons in.
- Either heat one cup of water in your mug in the microwave (about 3 minutes, but all microwaves vary in cook time) or fill your mug and pour the water into your one cup coffee maker.
- Allow the tea to brew in your method of choice then wait 15 minutes or so until tea is cool enough to drink. Sweeten to taste and enjoy.
Enjoying your PMS tea:
I drink this tea every month during the last week of my cycle before my period begins. It seems to help my mood and eases cramps, pain, and fatigue for me as well. For extra fatigue relief, I sometimes add a family sized black tea bag to the mix too, but it's up to you. I drink 3-4 cups of this daily during that week. This tea can be drunk cold as well but seems to be more effective hot for me.
As always thanks for stopping by and we'll see you next time at Secular Homemaking! :)
Psst...here's some humor as well for the not so funny topic of PMS.
